What is a Kitchen Table? This question is a little like asking, “What is a family?” Though each one is unique, every kitchen table is the place where we experience life and relationships at their deepest level.
The Kitchen Table is a group of 2-15 individuals who commit to walk through the ups and downs of life together. It’s a safe place to open our hearts, share our lives, and ask each other the tough questions as only our closest friends can.
Some Kitchen Tables meet weekly; others meet bimonthly. Some share a meal at every gathering, while others play golf. Your Kitchen Table may center around a Bible study or feeding homeless people on the streets of Lubbock. Each Kitchen table is unique.
However, every Kitchen Table has this in common: they are made of people who are radically committed to each other, who relate openly and authentically to one another without hiding behind masks, who help each other apply biblical truth to real life, and who regularly pray for the each other, the church, and the world.
And you won’t be left on your own to figure out how to accomplish these goals. Each week, we pose a personal challenge that your Kitchen Table can tackle together through a Kitchen Table discussion guide that is based on the latest sermon. There’s also an online version of the Guide that your group may choose to use. Or, you might opt for Conversations, our daily devotional guide, to help your Kitchen Table make the Bible applicable to real life. The possibilities are endless!
